About using our donations wisely, we should all, if we can, make a small donation to Schumer's campaign fund and call his office to thank him for holding the Democratic caucus together in opposition to the House Republican CR. A lot of us, including me, have been critical of Democrats for their focus on fundraising in the midst of chaos and this is a chance to use our money to reinforce a behavior we'd like to see more of.

I read Robert's column, and I think he overstates the negative potential. Since I have GOP/MAGA Senators, I'm going to call Schumer's office and congratulate him for going this far while encouraging him to stay the course and put the Republicans on the spot. The House could, if they chose, assemble a working quorum to pass a new CR and avoid a cataclysmic shutdown and, if they choose not to do so, the ball has been put squarely in their court as have the various adverse outcomes.
The general view--see Robert Hubbell today--is that Democrats will fold, try to get a 30-day CR, not filibuster and vote no when Republicans pass their bill by a simple majority. I'm going to call my Democratic senators this morning and tell them that if the leadership won't stand up to the Republicans and force a shut-down, then the leadership needs to be replaced, pronto.
