Now that we’ve gone back to “standard” time, let’s stay that way. This twice-a-year silliness of changing the clocks serves no purpose now if indeed it ever did, and the worst part is that the dogs and cats don’t look at the clock. Let’s make our lives at least a little simpler. Write, text, call, or email your national, state, county and local legislators and other powers that think they are and tell them it’s time to end Daylight Saving Time; that way we can all save the time we spend changing our microwave, stove and car clocks twice annually.
On a separate topic, if you haven’t already, make a plan to vote on Tuesday. Through Friday, over 20% of the registered voters in St. Louis County, MO had taken advantage of Absentee in Person voting and Tuesday is going to be a busy day at the polls. Remote locations will be open Monday from 8AM to 5PM and we’ll be there from 6AM until 7PM on Tuesday the 5th. If you’re in line by closing time you’ll be able to vote. Be a voter.
Totally agree about the foolishness of the time changes. It was originally designed as an energy saver. And then rationalization took over.
It is a relic. And it is a pain in the ass. My dog got me up at 5 because it was "really" 6.
I am optimistic by nature, but terrified as well. My therapy now is serious hard labor at the farm to reduce stress.
Good luck to us all, for sure.
I agree about the time change. It's an antiquated idea that adds confusion that we don't need. When you communicate with folks in other time zones, it becomes challenging to make sure you're on the same schedule, especially if they don't observe DST. The time change doesn't make the days any longer or shorter - our relationship with the sun does that.
Thanks for the push to get out the vote, especially early. I look forward to the end of voting on Tuesday (we're open until 8:00 pm), and then I hope to be able to relax. Today, I'm reviewing my training docs to make sure I'm ready for the oddball issues, like provisional ballots, that tend to bring things to a halt. Good luck on Tuesday, Dave! Hope it's calm and breezy!
