It would be interesting to hear Senators Blackburn, Cotton, Cruz, Graham and Hawley reflect on how their treatment of Judge Jackson relates to Jesus’ injunction that we “love our neighbors as we love ourselves”. It is just possible that they’re more in tune with the Pharisaical prayer recounted in Luke 18:9-14. That there would be acrimony in the Judge’s public interview with the Senate was guaranteed by partisan focus of the contemporary body but these 5 took the anticipated behavior to an embarrassing new level. In a more civil time, there would be ample justification for censure for all of them but that standard, like so many others in Washington, has passed away.
On a separate but related topic, it becomes increasingly clear that the Department of Justice under Mr. Garland has no intention of taking action against the leaders of the failed insurrection that took place on Jan. 6, 2021. Additionally, Cyrus Vance had announced an intention to bring indictments against the former president and others in his inner circle then resigned before doing so. His successor, Mr. Bragg, had the historic opportunity to bring charges against a notorious con man, grifter and presumptive traitor to this country but will instead be remembered as the prosecutor who lacked the courage to make the attempt. If there was any doubt about the “justice system” in this country being rigged in favor of those who have money and, in this case, generate millions in donations for both political parties, the actions of the NY District Attorney’s office should remove them once and for all.
Agree, agree, agree. Good to see a fellow Missourian putting out the truth. Thank you!
Dammit, I had so much hope.
