I was on a really good Zoom call with the folks from Blue Missouri and Every State Blue last night and there were a lot of groups mentioned in the comments as being valuable contributors to the growing resistance to a fascist and incompetent Republican administration.
It occurred to me that it would be really great and probably even more effective if there was some kind of umbrella organization that could coordinate the efforts of all these groups and more so that the donations that are constantly being requested (begged for) and the volunteers who are contributing their time can be put to best advantage across all 50 states, 5 occupied territories, and the District of Columbia.
Maybe some sort of national committee that would be made up of representatives from the groups operating in each state; those representatives could be chosen by similar committees at the state and local levels so that active participators get the recognition they need and deserve and there is a deep and well-established foundation for national campaigns every four years instead of every candidate building one from scratch. There might even be permanent offices at the county level so that people can have direct contact with elected officials and candidates.
Resistance is a necessity and a wonderful thing, but this level of organization may be asking too much. Will Rogers’ comment wasn’t meant as approval.
Thank you for enlivening a positive vision for my country's future.
The next shoe to drop for the Dems will indeed be the election of the new DNC chair on Feb 1. It is my hope that the DNC will become a serious force in resetting the agenda and reimagining the party as one of the working class. Some will worry that Ben Wikler is too "progressive". What does that mean? Too extreme? EXTREMELY extreme just won a Trifecta. We were wusses. We brought joy - they brought barrels of brutal lies.
I think Wikler has the best resume and pitch. But whoever it is, we need someone who will bulldoze and restructure now. Here's the latest DNC article I could find. The race is definitely wide open.

All that being said, one of the best ideas I have read lately is that of establishing a "shadow cabinet" a tradition in the UK. Timothy Snyder has written extensively about this.
For every stupid ass decision that comes out of this fascist oligarchy, there needs to be a voice that speaks the truth about the insanity unfolding. And they need to be all over every form of media - especially SM. We need podcasts that will attract the "Joe Rogan" fans. More like Pete Buttigieg having the guts and skill to appear on Fox.
I think Wikler gets this. I can't speak for the others.
BTW, I noticed that the war in Ukraine is not over yet. And I am tracking the price of eggs. Same price yesterday. But last week Trader Joe's had no eggs. None. Some will blame the bird flu. I blame whoever is president. /s
