Thank you for enlivening a positive vision for my country's future.

The next shoe to drop for the Dems will indeed be the election of the new DNC chair on Feb 1. It is my hope that the DNC will become a serious force in resetting the agenda and reimagining the party as one of the working class. Some will worry that Ben Wikler is too "progressive". What does that mean? Too extreme? EXTREMELY extreme just won a Trifecta. We were wusses. We brought joy - they brought barrels of brutal lies.

I think Wikler has the best resume and pitch. But whoever it is, we need someone who will bulldoze and restructure now. Here's the latest DNC article I could find. The race is definitely wide open.

All that being said, one of the best ideas I have read lately is that of establishing a "shadow cabinet" a tradition in the UK. Timothy Snyder has written extensively about this.

For every stupid ass decision that comes out of this fascist oligarchy, there needs to be a voice that speaks the truth about the insanity unfolding. And they need to be all over every form of media - especially SM. We need podcasts that will attract the "Joe Rogan" fans. More like Pete Buttigieg having the guts and skill to appear on Fox.

I think Wikler gets this. I can't speak for the others.

BTW, I noticed that the war in Ukraine is not over yet. And I am tracking the price of eggs. Same price yesterday. But last week Trader Joe's had no eggs. None. Some will blame the bird flu. I blame whoever is president. /s

BTW, my local store price for a dozen store brand large eggs this week is $4.99/dozen. They had stock on everything except free range large which have been running $5.49/dozen. The price of specialty eggs (e.g. organic, free range, cage free, etc.) hasn't really changed much and they have gone on sale from time to time; what has consistently gone up is the price of commodity eggs, possibly due to the bizarre conditions under which those hens are raised. It's one of the reasons I don't buy those; the other is that eggs from less restrictively raised birds taste and cook better.

Hey Dave,

My price tracking of eggs has begun. I primarily shop two stores. Trader Joes had a dozen large at $3.49. The big store was $2.99. FYI, MA is one of the states where ALL eggs must be “cage free”. I am sure that doesn’t mean “free range”. Probably just a larger prison :)

Thanks Bill. We're in complete agreement on the Democrats and on Tim Snyder's suggestion of a People's Cabinet. Joyce Vance did her 5 Questions piece with him yesterday which was a really good overview of his ideas. The major issue seems to be, as you said eloquently, the Democrats were wusses, and no one other than AOC seems to understand that that approach won't work.

Good point, Dave. It seems like a lot of groups may be plowing the same ground, and the asks for "donations" are endless. A coordinated effort is needed for sure.

Outstanding idea Jon, since the People's Party has unfortunate connotations.
